At the beginning of 2006, Astoria SoundWorks closed its Recording Studio to focus on rehearsal room rentals and musical instrument retail.
In April of 2006, Sandra Kratc raised the funds to acquire the assets of ASW's Recording Studio, and with Kamilo Kratc, registered Soundworks Recording Studio with the State of New York. In the Summer of 2006 a lease was signed with 23rd Avenue Realty and so began the design of the new recording studio with the expert assistance of Savvas Karamalis, and Steve Vavagiakis of Bang Zoom. Construction began on August/September 2006 for the new recording studio at suite 303 on the 3rd floor of the same commercial building where Astoria SoundWorks Rehearsal Studios occupies the basement. Before the studio was operational, we had sessions for our clients at the previous location of Spin Studios, and at our neighbor's studio: The Buddy Project. Sandra Kratc:

Worked for 17 years in a social work non-for-profit organization assisting victims of crime.
Studied Computer Engineering and Liberal Arts at Queensborough Community College. Studied Psychology and Violin at Hunter College.
Founded LightAtMyWindow to provide the Audio Visual services requested by companies and music performers serving in entertainment, educational, corporate, public and private remote and in-person events.

Kamilo Kratc:

Worked for 3 years in an internet portal for spanish and portuguese markets performing Quality Assurance monitoring as well as Audio for the Webcast division during the last year. Studied two semesters of Music Technology certificate program at Juilliard School. Studied Music Electronic Technology and Music Therapy at Queensborough Community College for 4 years. Worked for 8 years as a freelance audio engineer at various studios and for several private clients. The last 5 years of those were as intern, assistant and then engineer at the Recording Studio in Astoria SoundWorks Rehearsal Studios. Has also been a freelance Audio Visual Technician and "Sound Guy" since 2001 for various AV companies and music performers serving in entertainment, educational, corporate, public and private remote and in-person events.
